...Taxi Rides in Buenos Aires!
Taxi rides are generally quite inexpensive: the average ride from about any downtown hotel to any of our departure spots costs less than US$4.-
If at all posible carry Argentine money (it is generally better if you carry small change: local taxis are practical, inexpensive and convenient, but notorious for money scams). You need ONLY pay EXACTLY what the taxi meter reads (make sure he resets it once the ride starts; initial reading should be less than 3 Argentine pesos or approx. US$1 dollar), and carrying small change, you can always pay an exact amount (tips to taxi drivers are neither necessary nor customary... unless you REALLY like him/her).

Retiro/Recoleta "Best of BA" Morning Walk:
Departs daily at 10am by the "Florida Garden Café" at the corner of Florida St. (the pedestrian one downtown) and Paraguay St., a very active, bustling corner. You will see our guides standing outside the café's window, wearing very bright red jackets (or yellow pocket-badges) that read "BA Walking Tours". If you do not trust your fluency in spanish, just show the taxi driver these instructions:

Recoleta/Palermo "Amazing BA" Afternoon Walk:
Departs daily at 2pm by the red phone-booths at the shade of the huge tree outside "La Biela Café" at the corner of 600 Quintana Ave., also a very popular corner. You will see our guides by the tree, wearing very bright red jackets (or yellow pocket-badges) that read "BA Walking Tours". Just show the taxi driver these instructions:

Buenos Aires Tango:
aka "Tango Night-out" with the local crowds! Drink, eat & learn to dance it --or just watch. To see this, you HAVE to make a reservation in advance (not less than 6 hours before, though only an earlier reserve -24 hs- insures availability), and we will pick you up at your hotel.
Instructions for the Tango Night-out:
Wait for us at the hotel lobby at pick-up time (do NOT wait anywhere else: we might not make it to the show in time). Dress casually and comfortably, but proper. Do not bring valuables, or things (large purses or cameras, etc.) that will impede you from dancing or moving around. Make your reservation with us well in advance, so we can get the best spot for you. We usually go where the LOCALS go (not made-for-tourism places), except when you ask us to take you to a tourist-Tango-Show (which are fine too, but less involved--you don't dance). All these places are safe, very fun and usually crowded. You will be back at your hotel shortly after midnight (unless you want to stay).

COSTS:
Regular Walking Tours: cost up to US$25 p/p, but this cost may diminish as more people join that same tour (if more than 8 are walking with one same guide, the cost is US$20 p/p): Just show up and hope you are lucky... or bring more people along with you, to lower everybody's cost!
Tango Night-out: US$85 p/p all-inclusive (transport, food, drinks, lessons, dance -no extra costs).
Tourist Tango Shows: Depending on the show you choose (there are many to chose from, and many different options in each: with or w/o dinner, VIP, etc.)

Do not bring valuables to Walks & Tango:
Buenos Aires is basically safe, but like many large cities there is always inherent risk, specially if you are wearing or showing valuable stuff. Please, for everybody's safety and your own, avoid showing flashy watches, jewelry, electronics, etc.
